Recall of toy trays attached to baby walkers

Published

New South Wales Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner Steve Griffin today announced the recall of toy trays attached to the Childcare Rock ‘n’ Roll Baby Walker (Item numbers 022532 – 217) and the Ocean Motion Baby Walker (Item numbers 022530 – 192).

Mr Griffin said small parts on the toy trays attached to the walkers may detach and choke a young child.

“If you have one of these walkers, immediately remove the toy tray and toy accessories from the walker and dispose of them,” he said.

“This recall follows an investigation by Fair Trading into a near choking incident.

“The walkers can continue to be used once the toy tray has been removed.”

Consumers should register their details with the supplier, C.O. White Proprietary Limited, trading as CNP Brands, to receive a replacement tray.

The supplier can be contacted at info@cowhite.com.au, or by calling 1800 500 605 between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday.

Mr Griffin said CNP Brands had indicated a full refund would be provided on request.

“CNP Brands has advised Fair Trading that 8,108 Rock ‘n’ Roll walkers have been supplied exclusively to Target Australia, with 5,517 sold nationally between July 2010 and February 2011, including 1,637 in NSW,” he said.

“Fair Trading has negotiated the removal of all products from Target and Target Country stores nationally.

“CNP Brands has included the Ocean Motion walker toy tray in the recall, as a matter of caution, because it is manufactured in the same factory as the Rock ‘n’ Roll walker.”

Mr Griffin said CNP had advised Fair Trading that 389 Ocean Motion walkers had been supplied nationally through Toy World, My Baby Warehouse, Baby on a Budget and other independent retail stores, since June 2010.

“CNP Brands has advised there have been no reported failures of the toy tray attached to the Ocean Motion walker,” he said.
